TANDsoft Welcomes Dieter Orlowski to Its Team

Dieter Orlowski is a familiar face in the HPE NonStop world. After all, he has spent three decades working for NonStop partners in product development, product management, sales and marketing, sales management, and key executive positions.

Today, Dieter serves as head of DO Consulting LLC. His company provides worldwide sales and management consulting to businesses such as TANDsoft Inc. Every DO Consulting client comes with its own unique objectives. For TANDsoft, it’s the creation of a sales and business development strategy for TANDsoft’s expanding portfolio of enterprise software solutions.

Although Dieter consults on TANDsoft’s entire product line, his current focus is on new products FS Compare and Repair and FS Backup and Restore. TANDsoft CEO Jack Di Giacomo is counting on Dieter’s global connections and expertise in fault-tolerant technology to open untapped markets for the new solutions. Already, Jack has seen results. No other TANDsoft product, no matter how successful, has attracted so quickly the interest of potential customers as has FS Compare and Repair and FS Backup and Restore.

FS Compare and Repair is the most rapid compare/repair product for use in the HPE NonStop environment. A 1 terabyte multi-partitioned file will take just 10 minutes to compare using FS Compare and Repair. Based on block-compare technology, it identifies, reports, and resolves inconsistencies in live and offline databases. It works with all NonStop data replication products.

FS Backup and Restore reduces to minutes backup times that formerly took hours. Rather than archive whole files to disk, tape or virtual tape, FS Backup detects file data-block modifications and archives only the changes. FS Restore then retrieves the saved file data-block modifications and applies the changes to rebuild the original file. The product complements the HPE NonStop Backup and Restore utilities as well as all third-party storage solutions.

Both FS Compare and Repair and FS Backup and Restore require zero application modifications. They are easy to install, easy to use, and are certified on all HPE NonStop servers.

If you know Dieter from his years of NonStop involvement, please take a moment to welcome him to the TANDsoft team.

The Cost of Remittances globally

How much do you think it should cost to send $100 to someone else around the world?  We’ve all heard the name of Western Union, MoneyGram and alternatively the banks will also move money for us, for a fee.  However there are many other players in this game today which is helping to drive down the costs for us mere mortals.   Money Transfer Operators, Mobile Money, and the Post Offices of the world will also help us transmit money.

Gone are the days when you had to put a man on a horse to physically transport it across the plains of America, fighting off highwaymen and other ne’er-do-wells to get your money safely to your recipient.

We live in a digital age now where millions of us remit money to our loved ones, our suppliers, our employees, so how much should it cost to transmit all those ones and zeros, those bits and bytes?

The volume of remittance transactions globally reached £554 billion in 2019, a figure so large that it exceeds then amount of global Foreign Direct Investment.

Well the World Bank report of June this year highlights the various range of costs based on countries, based on the types of organisations providing the services.

The most startling statistic of all is that it can cost as much as $13 to send $200 by remittance service.   The report points out that Banks remain the most costly way to send your money with an average cost of over 10% of your money.  Post Offices come next at 7.6%, then Money Transfer Operators at 5.7%, and finally the cheapest come Mobile Operators at 3.2%.

When you compare these figures with the margins made in the card payment industry, you see just how expensive this is and perhaps why many new remittance players have entered this market.

UK players such as TransferWise and TransferMate have made great strides into this market, via their easy to use Apps and offering competitive rates.  For those global travellers or part-time currency traders Card Issuers such as Revolut offer a way to manage multiple currency pots under a single card account.

At OmniPayments we’ve seen a growing number of retailers who seek to integrate their currency remittance services with their value offering at the point of sale or at their customer service desks.  Retailers tend to be located where people go on a regular basis to buy goods and food, so it’s also a logical place for Retailers to offer their customers additional services.  Compare that with the banks who may not always be located in the most convenient place, and typically offer the sole service of banking.

Our remittance module is integrated with the OmniPayments core engine to help move money wherever its needed.  It integrates with the core engine and any remittances system to ensure a streamlined workflow of funds remittance, including any third party forex services.

OmniPayments offers a complete Payments Hub that enables organisations to process payments on behalf of others at negligible cost.  Our OmniCloudX cloud instance can help your business get up and running in weeks or even days.

OmniCloudX comes with everything you need to process card and payments. True 24*7 availability, robust security with PIN and Card management, Fraud Management, PCI DSS compliance, EMV-compliant, highly scalable and responsive, switching out to a broad range of Interchanges & Card schemes, Host system integration, clearing and settlement, easy-to-use real-time data visualisation operations.
